Our Story and Mission

It all started in 2012 in a kitchen…

While styling each-others hair in Ruthie’s kitchen, she and Sarah began to dream of what it would be like to open a salon together. They dreamed of a place that would not only provide beauty services but would have a unique atmosphere of loving, valuing and lifting others. After a few years of pursuing other things, they finally decided to make their dream a reality and Heart and Soul Hair Salon began to take shape in 2017. After a few months of searching and praying for a home for their salon, they met Lilly Sipe at Perfect Touch Hair Salon. Lilly has been a pillar in the community for over 25 years and has impacted so many lives through her love for serving people. She started her salon with a mission to love and help others see their value and worth. When Sarah and Ruthie met Lilly, she had been praying for the right people to take over her salon when she retired. She knew right away that these two would continue her mission of love and value in the community. So in April 2018, she took them under her wing and began to mentor them in business, faith and what it takes to own and operate a salon. Then in January of 2019, Ruthie and Sarah hosted the grand opening of Heart and Soul Hair Salon. With 30 plus years of experience between the two of them, they provide excellent service and strive every day to live out their mission of instilling value in everyone they meet!

Mission

We place people over profit and help every client see their beauty within. Teaching them the beauty and power women possess when coming alongside one another for humanity. Heart & Soul is so much more than a hair salon. It is our ministry. We believe God has provided us a platform to spread the gospel through our actions and we intend to do so with all of our heart and soul!

“Heart & Soul is a dream far too big for us that was birthed out of faith, love, passion, heartache, frustration, compassion, and hope! Devastated by the lack of confidence, self-worth, and a distorted view of beauty within our culture and especially within women. Falling victim to these horrible lies of the enemy ourselves, and walking through seasons of anxiety, insecurity and feeling insignificant we decided that enough is enough! We took a powerful stand to lay those lies down at the feet of Jesus and immediately, being The Good Father, He came running to our rescue. He revealed Himself to us and who we are to him. EZER KENEGDO “A suitable helper!” (Genesis 2:18). We learned quickly we had to come to him daily and choose to not live in these lies and dedicate ourselves to leading as many women as possible to freedom from this bondage as well! He has revealed many gifts and talents hidden deep in our hearts for such a time as this! We have spent time throughout the years sharpening these gifts and talents and we have a heart to disciple new stylists. We want to come alongside them in their journey.”
